The Stevenage Lytton Players Spring 2008 Drama Production was Willy Russell's Play Blood Brothers performed at the Lytton Theatre.
This is the play version of Blood Brothers by the well known author of Educating Rita, Willy Russell. It is fast moving and perceptive, entertaining and thought-provoking, funny yet ultimately tragic. It tells the tale of twin brothers who are born into a large working–class family and what happens when their mother decides to have one of them adopted. Blood Brothers looks at the differences and conflicts of their upbringings, their relationships with each other and their real and adopted mothers.
Set in Liverpool in 1962, twin brothers are separated at birth because their mother Mrs Johnstone cannot afford to keep them both. She gives one of them away to wealthy Mrs Lyons and they grow up as friends in ignorance of their fraternity until the inevitable quarrel unleashes a blood-bath
