The Stevenage Lytton Players Spring 2006 Youth Production was Bertolt Brecht's version of Sophocle's Antigone was performed at the Lytton Theatre by the Thursday Group.
After Grimm Tales I asked the Thursday Group what sort of show they would like to do next. They said something challenging. I had just seen a production of Jean Anouilh’s version of Antigone, I was so impressed I went out and bought the book. I then noticed there were lots of other versions of this Greek tale. It was during this time I stumbled upon Bertolt Brecht’s version and thought – “they want challenging, this will be very challenging”. Not only are we doing a Greek myth, we’re doing Brecht’s unique version of it.
This is different from anything the Lytton Players have ever done before. So, if you are interested in a unique, different, strange, invigorating piece of theatre come along to the group's production of Brecht’s Antigone!
